BEHIND THE MUSIC

We are The Umbrella Corporation, a Punk band from Pittsburgh, PA. The band was started around August 2008 by guitarist/singer, Sam Cooper.  In late August 2009, John Leary joined as a rhythm guitarist. On August 30th, Alex Barnhart joined as bass player. We played as a band for several months without a drummer. On Febuary 5th, Ray Petrisko was added to the band as a drummer, but after a month was kicked out of the band.

 

Our first OFFICIAL show was at Hard Rock Cafe in Pittsburgh. After months without a drummer, our rhythm guitarist, John Leary, became a temporary drummer so we could start playing more shows, and eventually became the permanent drummer for the band. Once all of the positions were filled in the band, we started playing shows at venues all over Pittsburgh, including The Altar Bar, Rex Theatre, Mr. Smalls, Club Diesel, The Smiling Moose, Shadown Lounge, as well as many others.  After a few shows we eventually started writing our original songs, most of them created by Sam Cooper, and some created by John Leary.

 

Things all went well until November 16, 2011, when longtime bass player, Alex Barnhart, quit the band. On November 25, 2011, John Radzilowicz became the band's bass player, but left the band on March 1, 2012.  On March 9, 2012 Shrub Totez became the band's bass player. With the addition of our new bass player, we continue to work on original songs and booking shows. We now stand at having 30+ originals.
